Join a select group of industry and civic leaders to examine models for private sector data sharing across businesses and sectors, related challenges and opportunities, and new models for generating social value from private sector data.

The Orange Silicon Valley business-to-business data sharing workshop, in partnership with The White House, will bring together private and public sector approaches to leveraging data to solve emerging urban challenges. Discussions will address challenges, opportunities, and best practices for generating value from data produced in the private sector. Key attendees will include data owners and business managers from the private sector, problem owners from the public sector, and data sharing/data analysis subject matter experts, as well as startups spanning those sectors.

Small group discussions of experiences, challenges, successes and lessons learned. Identify: current and best practices, barriers and risks, and use cases and business models for moving forward.

Each group to share their insights and identify desired outcomes for concrete actions.

1:00 - Panel: How We Might Share Data – Technical considerations and solutions

Panel discussion with solution providers – what technical platforms need to include and how close the state of the art is to delivering such platforms.

2:00 - Panel: How We Might Share Data – Social, Business, Political and Organizational Considerations

Panel discussion with practitioners – what approaches to data governance and internal incentive structures are most effective

3:00 -  Breakout: Defining Partnership Opportunities: MVPs/Pilots and Initiative Action Items

In small groups, identify partnership opportunities to: develop specific use cases, MVPs/Pilots and community-led initiative actions that can drive value creation for attendees.

3:45 -  Group Discussion, Participant Commitments and Closing Remarks

Each group to share their insights from the day and any identified next steps and an open discussion to identify follow-ups for the Silicon Valley community and the White House.
